Bridges weave places together. Bridges, like maps, are metaphors for travel and passage. We find ourselves confronted with an infinite chain of metaphors that Roland Barthes claims, "whose signified is always recessive or itself becoming signifier".
By juxtaposing solid, stable components of construction, and acid etched remnants, I attempt to locate the aesthetic value of erosion and decay, using the format of jewelry. Oscillating between representation and abstraction, I document places of transition and analyze elements of repair and use.
